Join us for the lighting of the Strong City Antique Caboose near the RR, then head up the street to the 1900 Theater for a showing of the Polar Express at 6:30 along with a Hot Cocoa Bar. Following the movie there will be toys for all good little boys and girls. Each child, 10 and under, will receive a small gift with an opportunity for a larger gift drawing provided by LMI Aerospace. All of the activities are free!

‘Tis the Season for Chase County Country Christmas
Join us in celebrating the joy of the holiday season as the Chase County Chamber of Commerce hosts the 2018 Chase County Country Christmas event on Friday evening, November 23 and all day Saturday, November 24.
Once again the Chamber is pleased to announce the inclusion of Shop Small Business Saturday. We invite everyone to show your support for our local small business community while enjoying all of the Country Christmas events!
The Country Christmas celebration begins on Friday evening, November 24, at the Strong City Antique Caboose with the Strong City Seasonal Express event.
Lighting of the Strong City Caboose will begin the celebration at 6pm. After the lighting everyone is invited to head up the street to the 1900 Theater for a showing of the Polar Express at 6:30 along with a Hot Cocoa Bar. Following the movie there will be toys for all good little boys and girls. Each child, 10 and under, will receive a small gift with an opportunity for a larger gift drawing provided by LMI Aerospace. All of the activities are free to attend and are sure to provide the perfect opportunity to make memories with your family!
Get a good night’s rest because Saturday, November 25 is packed full of activities for all ages to enjoy!
Start your day on Saturday with a Chase County Country Breakfast. For those that rise with the sun, Chuck Wagon Cafe in Strong City will begin serving at 7am. The Grand Central Hotel & Grill in Cottonwood Falls will open early at 7:30am. Both locally owned restaurants will offer a hearty selection of down home comfort breakfast favorites.
Keller’s Feed & Wine is back and will have an “Elf” the movie themed pancake buffet with the proceeds going to CCJSHJ theater department from 8am-11am.
Enjoy a festive good time at this year’s annual Country Christmas Ugly Sweater 5k and Fun Run. The starter gun will kick off the race at 9am at the Cottonwood River Bridge in downtown Cottonwood Falls. Runners, joggers, walkers and pets, many dressed in holiday adornments, will be certain to set the Christmas spirit in motion.
Registration forms may be picked up at the Chamber office. Online registration is available at manhattanrunningco.com. Race day registration will also be available. Entry fee for the 5K is $25 and includes a t-shirt (guaranteed size if registered by November 11), 1-mile Fun Run is free. T-shirts for Fun Run participants and the general public may be purchased for $15.
Registration begins at 8:30am, 5K run begins at 9am followed by the Fun Run and an exciting awards ceremony. Awards and prizes will be given for the top three finishers, both male and female, as well the top three “most festive” participants.
The Famous Silent Auction will be held at the Symphony in the Flint Hills Gallery from 9am to 5:30pm. Treat yourself or a loved one to this year’s creative auction baskets offering uniquely fun and fantastic gift options including overnight accommodations packages, restaurant and retail gift certificates, local artwork and so much more!
Saturday will be a shopper’s dream as local merchants offer a one-of-a-kind countywide shopping experience. Share the spirit of giving by supporting your local small businesses on Small Business Saturday.
The annual Arts and Crafts Fair will also offer shoppers a wide variety of gift ideas from 9am to 3pm at the St. Anthony’s Hall in Strong City. While you are in Strong City take a minute to stop in to Reyer’s Feed Store, Clark Farm & Home, Jacalito Mexican Restaurant, Strong City Grocery, Ad Astra Food & Drink, The Chuck Wagon, Subway, Flint Hills One Stop and the Liquor Maze to show your support and pride in our local small business community.
Brown, Bennett, Alexander will host a Remembrance Ceremony and Memory Tree at their Chapel in Cottonwood Falls from 10:30am to 11:30am.

The Holiday Home Tour will begin at 12pm with tours offered until 4pm. Tour locations include The Mill at Cedar Point, Middle Creek Tree House north of Elmdale, The Peoples Exchange Bank at Elmdale, the 1900 Theater in Strong City, The studio at the old Hitchin’ Post in Matfield Green.
Admission, which includes all locations, is $5 in advance and $8 on Saturday, November 24. Sales tax is included in the price of the ticket. Tickets may be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office, beginning November 15 or at any of the home tour locations on the day of the tour. There will be a limited amount of seats available for a guided bus tour provided by Prairie Earth Tours $20 per person, contact them directly at www.prairieearthtours.com

Country Christmas would not be complete without a Visit to Santa at the Chase County Courthouse! We are excited to announce that Santa will be bringing one of his reindeer along with him this year! Children of all ages will be able to Experience Santa’s Reindeer on the courthouse lawn from 3pm to 5pm.
Santa will greet children from 4pm to 5:30pm in the courthouse foyer, ensuring no Christmas list goes unheard this season.
The Courthouse and Historic Cottonwood River Bridge Lighting will take place at 7pm, directly followed by the annual Country Christmas Parade.
Complete your evening with free hot cocoa provided by Southfork Smokeshack under the giant lit Christmas Tree at the Cottonwood Falls Historic River Bridge and enjoy a drive along the Vine Street Christmas Holiday Light Driving Tour or kick up your heels at the Country Christmas Contra Dance to be held at the Community Building at Swope Park (immediately following the lighting) sponsored by Flint Hills Victorian Dance Society.
