WoodFest, formerly Joyful Noise, is a music-based weekend gathering sponsored by Symphony In The Flint Hills and held at the Camp Wood YMCA near Emporia each fall.
All day Saturday, nationally known musicians teach players of all ages, instruments, and experience in dozens of WoodFest Workshops. Non-players are encouraged to pick up an instrument and try it themselves.
Outside in the Flint Hills that surrounds the camp, families can experience WoodFest Wild through nature walks, horse riding, stories from area cowboys, and more.
Saturday evening, WoodFest moves to a hilltop amphitheater for the popular WoodFest Sunset concert. (Music provided by award-winning musicians; sundown light show courtesy of nature.)
The weekend closes Sunday with WoodFest Sunrise as Grammy-winner Eugene Friesen plays a final moving tribute to the weekend’s hosts, the Flint Hills.
